Responsibilities

The Plant Manager is responsible for overall plant operations. The Plant Manager has direct responsibility of the facility’s safety, quality, service, productivity, inventory, administrative, employee engagement, and financial performance. This is accomplished through leading, directing and managing the department managers and office staff. The Plant Manager is also responsible for employee development, staffing, project management and annual operating budget preparation and recommendations.  The Plant Manager works closely with EH&S, Network Optimization, Corporate Accounting, Human Resources, Freight Operations and others. The Plant Manager is responsible for developing the culture of the facility and successfully leading the operation by practicing ADS Core Values. This position provides leadership for the facility and sets goals and executes strategies to meet corporate and regional business objectives. The Plant Manager reports directly to the Regional Manufacturing Manager and at the executive level, to the VP of Pipe Manufacturing Operations.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure a safe work environment for all employees and maintain a safe working record. Administer proper safety practices and procedures
  • Leads in a way that embraces and sustains positive and inclusive culture for all employees
  • Oversee manufacturing operations. Meet or exceed, safety, quality, productivity, delivery and maintenance expectations
  • Ensure excellent customer service through professional fleet partnerships, customer relations and proper inventory management
  • Fosters an environment of learning by executing employee training programs that support career progression
  • Prepare annual operating budgets for plant operations. Meet or exceed budget requirements
  • Effectively manages staffing to correspond with demand levels
  • Ensure proper management and inventory levels of all raw materials, fixed assets and finished goods
  • Facilitate various operational programs and ensure plant compliance
  • Prepare financial reports as needed for location performance
  • Promotes appropriate communications with other ADS manufacturing facilities and departments
  • Understand and practice ADS CORE VALUES AND LIFE SAFETY PRINCIPLES
  • Maintain and build job skills through company and outside training programs
  • Ensure proper management of location’s purchases via the internal purchase order system or company credit card.
  • Utilizes data to proactively solve or improve location performance
  • Promote a positive and transparent work environment
  • Embed the manufacturing strategy enabling standardization.
  • Promote a Continuous Improvement Culture using LEAN concepts by practicing and supporting our Green Line Operating System

Educational Requirements:

  • 4-year Business/Technical degree or equivalent experience

Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years of manufacturing site leadership as the highest-level leader at the location

Physical Requirements:

  • Employee will be lifting heavy objects and must have the ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Employee will be sitting for a specified amount of time and must have the ability to sit at a minimum for 8 hours
